Pain Management

Living with chronic pain can be debilitating and take a huge toll on your life. Often chronic pain can cause us to opt out of activities or interactions that we used to enjoy. This can lead to feelings of depression and despair, as life becomes more difficult.

We understand that stress = tension in the body = feelings of pain. But the feelings of pain cause more stress, which leads to more tension and pain. And this becomes a vicious circle that can be difficult to break.

Often the nervous system will hold onto pain as it (mostly mistakenly) feels that the pain is serving some sort of useful purpose in keeping us safe. The pain becomes a loop trapped in the nervous system which exists far beyond any useful purpose it may once have had.

With hypnotherapy:

  • We can hep to calm the nervous system with relaxation and gentle, positive hypnosis techniques.
  • We can help you deal with the stress and depressive symptoms associated with having chronic pain.
  • We can also help you to start to engage in positive activities and interactions in your life that will help to build positive chemicals in your system that dampen pain signals in the brain.

We offer a FREE Initial Consultation where we can discuss how you are experiencing pain, and the effect this is having on your life. We will explain the current best scientific understanding of how pain works within the nervous system, brain and body, and most importantly how we can help you to move forward in your life. We will teach you relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques to manage the pain better, and give you a relaxation track to listen to every night to start to make positive neural changes within the brain.

Many clients find hypnotherapy can reduce, or even remove, chronic pain. We would always want to manage your expectations around this, and while we cannot promise to remove the pain for you, we can certainly help you in very positive ways so that your life improves, whether the pain is still there, lessens, or goes entirely.

We would encourage you to explore medical options for dealing with pain, including speaking to your GP and receiving a diagnosis, before beginning a course of hypnotherapy. We are very happy to provide any further information that might be of help, and you are welcome to get in touch to speak to us about any issues around this.
