Stress Workshop: Wednesday 17th June 2015 10am-12pm
Modern life can be extremely stressful. The demands on our time and energy are huge, and we often have no choice but to meet those demands. All this means ever increasing amounts of stress.
The problem with stress however is that it often builds up slowly, and day by day as we somehow manage, we build up our tolerance. This means that quite often it’s not until the cracks start to show and we start to experience emotional distress, and even physical symptoms, that we realise just how stressed we are.
Although the symptoms of stress vary tremendously from person to person, they often include one or more of the following:
•Feelings of dread – a feeling that something awful is about to happen
•A fear of losing control Difficulties sleeping – getting to sleep, staying asleep, or sometimes waking up
•Rapid heart beat
•Tightness in the chest and / or shortness of breath
•Shakes and tremors
•Bad habits (nail biting, smoking, excessive drinking, excessive eating)
